Celebrate Everyday Legends in Boston

Over the course of the last few months, we have united against a common challenge. And while COVID-19 continues to leave its mark on our city, there is a silver lining.

Through all the disconcerting reports, positive stories have also emerged about people who have stood up and stood out in the face of this adversity.

Maybe you’ve heard about the woman who knits masks for her fellow seniors, or the nurses who haven’t missed a day of work. You’ve probably also read the stories about restaurateurs who are using their skills to serve the medical community and passed the employees who continue to keep the grocery stores stocked.

None of these people do it for recognition. They are motivated only to help others within and beyond their communities. They aren’t just everyday people – they are Everyday Legends.

And they deserve to be celebrated.

WHAT MAKES AN EVERYDAY LEGEND?

An Everyday Legend is someone who has made a positive impact during this unprecedented COVID-19 outbreak.

There’s no effort too small. Anyone who has contributed in a meaningful way – to their community, to mitigating the spread of the virus, to sharing good news – is an Everyday Legend in our book.

Everyday Legends are healthcare providers, and the people who sew masks for strangers. They are grocery store employees, and the people who deliver supplies to those in need. They are restaurant staff. They are online fitness instructors. They are maintenance workers, cleaners and concierge. They are people considered essential. They are volunteers.

They are all around us, and it’s time we know their names.

CELEBRATE EVERYDAY LEGENDS.

The Everyday Legends Campaign starts today and will run through June 1st.

The goal is simple – to honor the people that have had a positive impact during these challenging times.

That’s where you come in. We are asking our followers to submit your very own Everyday Legends, to give them some much deserved recognition.

Beyond a shout out, they could also win prizes. From all the nominees, we will randomly select 10 winners. Each winner will receive a $150-gift card to a local shop in The Fenway to use on THEMSELVES.

HOW TO NOMINATE AN EVERYDAY LEGEND.

Email [email protected] with the following information about your Everyday Legend:

  • Your name and your relation to the nominee.
  • The nominee’s name and email address.
  • Why you think this person is an Everyday Legend? What impact have they had during this global pandemic? Why do you consider them a local hero? [Keep it simple: 250 words or less. See “what makes an everyday legend” for ideas on who to nominate].
  • A clear photo of the nominee [1,500 px wide].
  • Optional: Additional photos as part of the nomination.

You have until June 1st to make a submission.

HOW WE’RE HELPING.

We want to thank those who have made a legendary impact during this time. Your efforts, your attitude, and your contributions are greatly appreciated.

On behalf of all of the Everyday Legends out there, The Fenway will be donating $2,500 to Heading Home and the Boston Main Streets Foundation COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.

Heading Home is a leading provider of emergency shelter, transitional and permanent housing for low-income families and individuals in times of crisis, while Boston Main Streets is raising money for small businesses impacted by the pandemic.

If you would also like the opportunity to donate to either of these incredible organizations, visit their websites here: Heading Home or Boston Main Streets.

THE FINE PRINT

By submitting to the Everyday Legends Campaign, you are certifying that you have the explicit approval of your nominee to be entered for a chance to win one of the prizes and promoted publicly as an Everyday Legend through thefenway.com and related channels.

You and your nominee are agreeing that your nominee’s name, photo, and information about what makes him/her an Everyday Legend can (but is not required to) be used in promotional purposes in any medium without compensation paid to the nominee or to you, for as long and as often as we see fit.
