Roam

Margarita Krylova & Eli Portman

Roam examines the way our minds wander while exploring great expanses and dense environments, on journeys both physical and mental. Through their use of bright color and experimental compositions, Eli and Margarita meditate on representations of self awareness and solitude. Eli’s work often focuses on urban environments, while Margarita explores existence within nature. Although their works present a contrast in style, the theme of journeying through life with all its places and stages is present in each piece. Come on the quest to meditate on a voyage called life, with art as the lens.

Margarita’s career as an artist began with Artists for Humanity in Boston, where she worked as a painter. In 2012 she studied Chinese ink painting in Hong Kong through Tufts. In 2014 Margarita graduated from the Tufts and SMFA Combined degree program with degrees in Art and Neurobiology. In 2018 she commenced on a yearlong backpacking trip throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, painting commissioned murals along the way. She currently works out of Studio 510 at Western Ave Studios.

Eli is a Boston based Artist. He graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a Bachelors Degree in studio art in the spring of 2014. He has displayed his work in universities, libraries, cafes and art galleries all over the City of Boston. He teaches art at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and the Eliot School of Fine and Applied Arts.
