Celebrate Scottish Culture at The Citizen’s 3rd Annual Burns Night

A celebration of the life and literary work of Scottish writer and poet Robert Burns, Burns Night returns to The Citizen for a night of Scottish-themed celebration on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 (NEW DATE!). The Citizen’s third annual Burns Night will feature HOGgis (The Citizen’s whole roasted pig version of the traditional Scottish dish haggis), traditional Scottish food like neeps and tatties, whisky from Laphroaig and Bowmore, live bagpiping, spirited poetry readings and sing-alongs. This year’s theme is the ‘Elements of Islay: Peat, Fire and Salt,” which will inspire the menu and cocktails of The Citizen’s 2026 Burns Night.

The evening will be hosted by Simon Brooking, an Edinburgh native, member of the Robertson Clan and Senior Ambassador of Scotch Heritage at Beam Suntory. Simon will act as our guide through traditional poems and songs, as well as the ceremonial presentation and cutting of the hog.
