REI Wants to Help You Get Outside This Winter

At REI, we believe that a life outdoors is a life well lived. And, this winter, we want you to enjoy your time outside as much as possible.

We know what you’re thinking: You’ve got to be brave to spend time outside during a Boston winter. But you’ve been through this before. You can handle it.

Plus, we’re here to help you to get outside no matter the weather. So, if you’re adventurous enough to get outside with us this winter, REI can help you stay warm from head to toe, all season long.

To kickstart your time outside, we’ve partnered with our friends in The Fenway to provide the Boston community with a unique outdoor experience, The Rink at 401 Park. Transforming The Green this winter, The Fenway’s new ice rink will be open through February.

Over the next few weeks, we’ve also got some great programming lined up at The Rink, including:

A complete list of our winter class schedule at REI Fenway can be found here.

After you hit the rink, and you’re looking for more outdoor activities for your winter weekends, stop into REI Fenway to talk shop with our green vests. They can share their favorite wintertime activities in Boston and throughout New England, along with tips for gearing up during the colder months.

If you’re looking for additional inspiration, here are some of our team’s favorite outdoor activities in the Boston area, plus the gear they bring along.

  • “I enjoy biking along the Esplanade. I make sure to always wear a merino wool Buff, my PEARL iZUMi toe covers for my bike shoes and a pair of lobster mitts.” – Steph, Somerville
  • “I really enjoy walking and running along the path in The Fens to look at the art installations (near the new Boston University buildings that used to be Wentworth’s campus). I always wear my Smartwool base layer and my Cotopaxi wind shell.” – Sarah, Cambridge
  • “The Emerald Necklace offers an excellent opportunity to those who wish to take a lunch run. Grab a 3 to 5-miler midday by heading out to JP and back toward the Charles River. Be sure to grab a Buff and gloves.” – Cam, Somerville
  • “Snowshoeing at the Trustee’s Ward Reservation in North Andover or in the White Mountains. If you don’t have your own snowshoes, you can rent a pair for the weekend at REI.” – Monika, The South End

We look forward to seeing you outside. Enjoy the winter!
