In Boston, the innovation economy is no longer confined to the Seaport or Kendall Square thanks to an influx of investors and entrepreneurs in The Fenway. The neighborhood is enjoying a tech renaissance as exciting new ventures and scaling companies are popping up all over the area.
Between Hatch's launch and the opening of the Van Ness office tower, The Fenway has established itself as a hotbed for entrepreneurship in a few short years. The area's buildings are brimming with dozens of companies from tech startups to major movers and shakers, all working to disrupt a diverse array of industries.

Our friends at Chew Innovation are always cooking up something good. The confidential nature of their work means that they often can't talk about it—but we got some behind-the-scenes peeks for you! Their big, beautiful, new food lab is located on the third floor of 1255 Boylston Street in The Fenway.
Another big win for the neighborhood, Decibel Therapeutics will be calling The Fenway home starting in 2017. The formerly Cambridge-based company will be located in Van Ness (1325 Boylston) and plans to hit 100 employees by the end of the year.
Her Campus Media, LLC
Named one of Entrepreneur Magazine’s Best Entrepreneurial Companies in America in 2015, Her Campus Media is an innovative media and marketing agency dedicated to improving the lives of college women. It does that by delivering content through both its own properties and in partnership with major corporations. “All college women can benefit from taking part in events and programming we offer,” said Stephanie Kaplan Lewis, Her Campus co-founder, CEO, and editor in chief, speaking with The Fenway last year. “It’s really about being a career development vehicle in media, marketing and journalism.” Stephanie also recently talked Boston retail for our In The Chair series. Her Campus is gearing up for their April Summit in NYC and a summer campus tour across the United States.
Launch, located in the Landmark Center at 401 Park Drive in The Fenway, lives by the words "Launch. Learn. React." So far its two biggest projects have been shoe company M. Gemi and cosmetics outfit Follain. We look forward to seeing what new companies Launch shepherds into existence.
The idea behind Lighter is so simple, it’s ingenious. It tells users what groceries to buy to help get them to—you guessed it—eat better and get lighter. Members can expect customized grocery lists, flexible weekly menus, and food recommendations from healthcare professionals, chefs, athletes, and more, to help you balance work, life, and health. And as a member, your whole family can participate. The company moved to the The Fenway in 2016 and is now located at Hatch (401 Park Drive).
With over 60 years of sail-making experience, North Sails manufactures sails in six different countries and boasts over 1,500 employees worldwide. Its new facility at Hatch in The Fenway is a welcome addition to the ever-growing roster of amazing companies in the neighborhood.
Occupying their beautiful new 800-person office in The Fenway (1325 Boylston Street), Optum is a "health services and innovation company" with a global footprint. "Our goal is to make health care simpler and work better, most significantly on a human level," states Optum CEO Larry Renfro on their website. Optum just announced a new project with Empower Retirement that combines aspects of health savings accounts (HSAs) with retirement planning.
PULSE @MassChallenge is the Charlie Kaufman of startups: An incubator within an incubator. Born of a partnership between MassChallenge and the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership, PULSE occupies the entire eighth floor of the Landmark Center—housing up to 40 early-stage businesses in the digital healthcare sector. Hatch’s proximity to the world-renowned Longwood Medical Area enables technological innovators to collaborate with some of the sharpest medical minds in the world. Fitness wearable company WHOOP! continues to rack up the big wins, including their Strap 2.0 being worn by sports luminaries, such as LeBron James and Michael Phelps.
